Get Out the Count (GOTC) Overview

The first phase of Census preparation was the Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) and we are pleased that every county in the state participated in this major undertaking.  This ensures that we have an accurate listing of all the addresses across the state and individuals in those addresses will be able to complete the 2020 Census.

The next phase of Census preparation is Get Out the Count (GOTC) and we need every community to participate. Trusted community partners are needed to share the message about the importance of the 2020 Census and the need for every community member to respond. 

Our goal is to train community members on ways they can help promote Census participation and we encourage each community to establish a Complete Count Committee. These committees ideally include influential community members and trusted voices who may  include representatives from/expertise about:

• Businesses

• Education

• Faith-based institutions

• Government

• Health care

• Libraries

• Service organizations

• Technology

• Workforce development

Community members are the best resource for ensuring communities have accurate counts. Be sure your community gets everyone counted.
